Rebuilding local connection through journalism
Nonprofit local journalism for Boulder County
The Boulder Voice is a nonprofit local news initiative created to strengthen civic life in Boulder through trusted reporting, community connection, and public-service journalism.
Our Mission
Independent Journalism, rooted in community.
The Boulder Voice exists to strengthen civic life through independent, accessible, community-powered local journalism. As a nonprofit initiative of Confluence Media Alliance, we are building a trusted source for Boulder County. Connecting readers, businesses, and institutions through accountability reporting, public-interest storytelling, and practical coverage of the issues shaping our region.
We'll cover the people, institutions, and everyday issues that shape life in Boulder County. Including: local government, housing, environment, business, arts and culture, education, and community life.
When Boulder County lost a trusted, weekly, local publication in July of 2025, it lost more than a newspaper. It lost a source of shared awareness, civic connection, and community visibility. The Boulder Voice is being built to help restore that connective tissue through nonprofit journalism in service to the community.
Our vision is to inform, widen access to local information, reflect a fuller range of voices, and help connect the people, ideas, businesses, and institutions that make Boulder County what it is.

Why now
Boulder county has felt the loss.
Why This Matters
The loss of a trusted local publication left a real gap in Boulder’s civic and community life. Information became more fragmented, shared awareness weakened, and many residents had fewer reliable ways to stay connected to what was happening around them.
Local businesses also lost an important bridge to the people they serve. The Boulder Voice is being created in response to that need — to restore reliable local information while building something more inclusive, more representative, and more community-centered for the future.
Boulder needs more than information. It needs connection.
